A Difficult Woman

The Uncivil War

How it
began
is undecided
How you
fought
it –
underhanded;
How
the battle
dragged
unending
remains
unspeakable
to me
still.

But
I am
now
unbroken
for I
reclaimed
new self
unblemished
and
I will
love
and live
unsullied
with unhurried
inner
grace.

I claim
title
sing
unbending,
and
I own the word
unbowing
Untouchable
by your
fists
now
by your
uncensored
unblest
tongue.

Unafraid
but
not
unknowing,
undefeated
I breathe
forward;
Unlamented
pressing
undo
you’re
a past
I do not
need

But
always
I will
hearthold
how undesired,
so true
uncalled
for
was your
unbidden
unsheathed
waging
of

The
Uncivil
Civil
War.
